Accessibility
Last reviewed: November 1, 2026
We want everyone to be able to use CareerHex, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or zoom. This page explains what we have done, what may still be hard, and how to tell us about a problem. CareerHex is run by Monolen. On this page, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Monolen.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These are the international guidelines most websites follow.
What we have done
- Keyboard: everything works with a keyboard, and you can always see which item is selected. A Skip to content link is the first thing you reach on every page.
- Display settings: the Accessibility button (the round button with the accessibility symbol, at the top of the site’s pages and in the quiz) lets you make text bigger, use stronger contrast, stop animations, underline links and add more space in text. Your choices are saved in this browser only, and Reset puts everything back.
- Quiz shortcuts: press 1 to 5 to answer. Press Backspace or the left arrow to go back.
- Screen readers: charts, like the Holland hexagon, have a text description. Changes are announced, for example when your result appears or a link is copied.
- Colour: text and backgrounds meet the WCAG AA contrast level. Colour is never the only way we show something: each type also has a letter and a name.
- Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, or you turn on Stop animations in the Accessibility settings, animations are switched off and the sample on the home page does not play by itself. Otherwise, you can pause it.
- Phones and zoom: pages fit a phone screen without scrolling sideways, and you can zoom in with your browser. Buttons and menu links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
- No time limit: take as long as you like. If you stop the quiz, your answers stay on your device for 7 days so you can finish later.
- Plain English: we write at about a grade 9 reading level, for readers of any age and for people still learning English.
How we check
We checked every page with axe, an automated accessibility checker, on phone and laptop screen sizes, most recently on November 1, 2026. Automated tools only find some problems, and CareerHex has not had an independent accessibility review yet. There may be problems we do not know about, so please tell us if you find one.
What may still be hard
- The quiz moves on by itself. When you pick an answer, the next question appears right away. If you picked the wrong one, press Back. When you go back to change an answer, the quiz waits for you to press Next.
- Payment happens on Stripe’s page. Stripe runs the checkout, so we cannot change how it works. If you have trouble paying, email us.
- English only for now. We don’t have other languages yet.
Tell us about a problem
If something on CareerHex is hard to use, email OWNER_EMAIL. Please tell us:
- which page it was on, or what you were trying to do
- what went wrong
- your device and browser, and any assistive technology you use, such as a screen reader
We usually reply within a few days. If a problem stops you from taking the quiz or reading your report, we will work with you to find another way. Family members, teachers, counsellors and support workers are welcome to write too.
Please never send your card number or other payment details. For other questions, see our contact page.
